Simple Tips to Freshen Your Decor by New Orleans Interior Designer, Shaun Smith
My current home decor needs help. I knew I needed to call my friend, Shaun Smith, for a professional decorating intervention. I had a room I called the Peppa Pig dumping zone. One could vaguely see a sofa, maybe a rug, but mostly it was a dumping ground for ride-on cars, random toys, puzzles, pop-up tents and anything Peppa Pig! What's worse is that I have an aunt that continues to send more ride-on cars and massive pop-up tents as gifts! It was time to turn this room into a functional family den. Shaun to the rescue! I have known Shaun for years. I love his aesthetic of mixing high and low priced pieces and modern and antiques to create his signature style that is beautiful AND functional. After all, I have 3 little kids and a husband (so 4 kids). I wanted a beautiful space to entertain but also a space where my kids could feel comfortable living in. In the past, I have attempted to redecorate myself. I ended up buying random pieces I didn't really love and making poor choices like an all green room. I remember our first home had forest green wallpaper in the kitchen. I thought , "Hey, how about a green sofa and dining chairs to match!". Thank goodness I am in the smile business. I met with Shaun recently to discuss our project and for a quick interview. Shaun provided some quick and simple tips that can make a big impact.
