How to throw a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme birthday party
Between my three kids, I have thrown 19 birthday parties. Yes, 19 parties! I was starting to run out of ideas of themes. I know I could easily throw a bounce house in the backyard and call it a day. I mean, growing up, my mom's idea of a birthday party of a bag of Doritos and a cake from Winn-Dixie. But I love throwing parties, big or small. So when it came time to celebrate my daughter's 8th birthday, I decided to throw a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed party. This theme was perfect! My little Kenzie loves to dress up and wear "special" makeup for the day. And I could keep the party food simple and sweet! I find early morning birthday parties works best for little ones. I suggest keeping a child's party under 2 hours. This is plenty of time for the kids to play and eat. Another pearl I have learned from previous parties is that kids do not care about fancy food. I kept the party's breakfast buffet very kid-friendly--mini bagels, pigs-in-a-blanket, bite-sized fruit and yogurt. To thank the parents for getting up so early, I had mimosas, coffee and hot tea.
